The Hiraeth House
The Hiraeth House is a collective of women-owned businesses. I share a space with my friend and colleague Brea of Sureg Doula. The house is a warm, open space with a massage table.During a massage I use myofascial techniques and the breadth of my knowledge from yoga therapy including breathwork and joint mobilization to release bound up energy and tension. If you are interested in massage, private yoga, small group sessions, or events at the Hiraeth House please contact me to arrange :)

What is Art of Repair?
At Art of Repair, I help individuals -at all stages of their holistic health journey- create a constitution of ease and compassion from within through a range of facilitated techniques including myofascial massage, assisted stretching, breathwork, meditation, self-administered massage, and yoga asana.
My Philosophy
The ethos at Art of Repair arises from two Zen Buddhist philosophies: Kintsugi and Wabi Sabi. Kintsugi is an art form that joins broken ceramics with golden or silver lacquer to create beautiful pieces of pottery made new. The art form highlights the shattered imperfection, and the heightened beauty of its new form. Where Kintsugi is a celebration of a broken piece made new, Wabi Sabi is the acceptance of imperfection and the transient nature of life. Through each of our healing journeys we will encounter aspects of our nature that we can mend, realign, and overcome; however, we will also encounter aspects that we must learn to accept, appreciate, and accommodate. Here at Art of Repair, we embark on this healing journey together.
Our Pillars
A Work in Progress Mindset
Though yoga and massage have the potential to transform our lives, I know from our own experience that the journey towards optimal health is messy. I promote a mindset of grace towards the process of mending. This mindset values the role of playfulness, forgiveness, and compassion through the nonlinear process of healing.Holistic and Adaptive Care
Each person who enters my practice is treated as a whole person --rather than a set of symptoms or pathologies. I adapt my offerings to meet the evolving needs of individuals I treat. As a further commitment to adaptability, I offer sliding-scale and community driven offerings to reach individuals that are limited in their ability to pay for quality care.Commitment to Continued Education
In order to provide outstanding care, I am dedicated to the lifelong journey of self-improvement as I seek further education to ground my services and therapies in the evolving field of bodywork.Caring for Bodies, Communities and Environments
I priortize traceable, nontoxic, fairtrade, sustainable, and equitable sources for products like oils, linens, cleaners, props, etc. products used on site. I value diversity, equity, and inclusion within the community at Art of Repair. As the business evolves, I aim to embrace principles of Universal Design to serve the greatest number of people in the community.
Hello!

I'm Laura LaStrand
MS | LMT | RYT
I am a Licensed Massage Therapist, Community Educator & Yoga Practitioner with a background in biomedical engineering and social science. I bring a blend of eastern, indigenous, and western philosophies to my work with clients. For more than a decade, yoga has served as a healing force in my life. It emerged when I (mistakenly) thought yoga was not for my body. On the contrary, yoga was the first of many somatic practices that continue to help me thrive with complex autoimmune conditions and PTSD.
My health is a work in progress and that informs my work as a somatic practitioner. I use a somatic and trauma-Informed approach to massage and yoga that cultivates an active relationship with the mind, body, and ethos. I use the expanse of yoga therapeutics including breath, asana, meditation, and chants to explore the nervous system and promote a constitution of compassion from within. Check out my experience if you want to learn more about my education and tranings.
Outside my work, I cook most of what I eat and wash dishes far more often than I like. I seek knowledge, walk boundaries, and conspire with weeds. I am a storyteller, aspiring herbalist, and mudlover -- one who enjoys a day that ends with stained knees, mud crusted boots, and forage to feast upon. With less flare ups, better pain management, and a compassionate practice, I am learning each day to appreciate the art of repair.

Is your health a Work In Progress?
Do you crave grounding, connection, healing touch?
Me too! Your healing journey is a work of art, and you needn't face your stress, anxiety, and pain alone. With yoga and somatic therapeutics, I can guide you to slow down and reclaim your inner calm. Together we can co-create a holistic practice that embodies playfulness, mental expansiveness, and compassion.
